During the summer, Mossley CRT is organising regular Wednesday evening training sessions on the brand new, purpose-built cycling circuit in Ashton-Under-Lyne.

The evening starts with a 45-minute training session for kids at 18:00 (we've had kids from age 6 upwards - all are made welcome). Adults take to the circuit afterwards, at 18:45.

The cycling circuit is traffic-free, so it is ideal for use by children in a supervised environment.

The training sessions are held on a Wednesday evening.

The Ashton-Under-Lyne cycle race circuit is located at Ashton Football Club's Tameside stadium - please park in the football club car park.

Directions:
M60 (from Stockport) Junction 23 turn left off slip road, then get into the second from left lane to go through the lights onto the A6140 sign-posted Ashton. Keep on the A6140 until you come to a set of traffic lights with a cinema on your right, turn left at these lights, follow road over a bridge then over a mini-roundabout then turn left after the mini-roundabout. Ground is at the bottom of the roadway.

Mossley Cycle Racing Team and Dowson Primary School have been working closelly together to encourage kids into cycling, as this article from British Cycling explains.

Mossley CRT are an Accredited Go-Ride Club, achieving Sport England’s Kitemark of excellent club activities back in March 2007. The Mossley CRT is still developing and attracting more young people into the cycling club. The link with Dowson Primary in Hyde is strong, and Wendy Jones of Mossley CRT was glad to report that nearly all the young people who attend school sessions also take part in Mossley CRT's cycling activities.

Mossley CRT puts a lot of effort into developing young cyclists, and this is reflected in our cycling club being recognised by British Cycling as a Go-Ride and Clubmark cycling club. There is an article about Mossley CRT being recognised on British Cycling's own website.

We are based in the Tameside area, and we organise regular club rides, training rides, velodrome sessions and midweek training and racing evenings at the new purpose-built cycling circuit in Ashton-Under-Lyne.

So if you are looking for a cycling club to join, or for your children to join, look for a Go-Ride cycling club.
